God is saying that the one who claims to be a follower of Jesus should walk just as He walked. In Romans 8:29 God’s Word declares that it is His will that you and I be “conformed to the image of His Son.” Jesus said in Luke 6:40, “…everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:1 that we are to be imitator’s of God. How do we know what God is like? Look to Jesus, the perfect image of the invisible God.
God’s will for your life is that you live like Jesus – that your walk looks like His walk. Which brings us to a second question, “How did Jesus walk?”
Jesus walked with compassion – He invested His life in the hurting.
Jesus walked selflessly – He put aside His wants and needs for the good of others
Jesus walked with intentionality – He knew why He was sent to earth and lived out His purpose.
Jesus walked in total dependence upon HIs Father – He couldn’t do anything on His own.
Jesus walked in relationship with others – Jesus chose to live in relationship with others.
Jesus walked in holiness and believed that holiness was contagious.
Jesus walked in total obedience to His Father’s will.
